Due to international travel restrictions the next Miss Mermaid International has been delayed until late 2022 (dates TBA).
Thus our next USA competitions will be for the 2023 State Titles followed by the national finals for Miss Mermaid USA 2023!
The Queens who competed at the Pageant Finals at MerMagic Con in August 2021 will be extending their titles to 2022. Congrats on their extended rein!

How to Apply
We plan to open up applications for 2023 State Titles in late 2022. If you are signed up on our mailing list below then you will get a notification when applications open up!
All potentials start with an online application for the state where they live. For 2023, some states will also have their own in-person State Pageant! Stay tuned for more details.

Requirements
We do everything we can to make Miss Mermaid USA inclusive and accessible! There are no limitations on body size, height or maternal/marriage status. You don't need professional modeling photos, mermaiding experience or even a mermaid tail. We do our best to keep competing as budget friendly as possible and we keep our application fees low, with proceeds donated to the national winner's cause!
Applicants must be
- US Citizens
- Women age 18-36
*We love mermaids of all ages but our age category is controlled by our International parent pageant. We are petitioning for more inclusivity and hope to expand to include Ms. and Mr. categories so we can offer a pageant for everyone!
*All women are welcome to apply for Miss Mermaid USA. Several of our current and past Queens identify as non-binary.
*If you are not a US citizen, we can also help represent mermaids from other North & South American countries. Contact us for opportunities!

How to Prepare
If you are thinking of applying, we encourage you to strengthen your application by developing a specific activism platform, volunteering for community service, and building up your underwater/modeling skills and portfolio! Challenge yourself in the areas where you have less experience and build your strengths into your own personal story of what makes you shine!
We invite you to connect with your state's current Queen and other members of Miss Mermaid, as they can be a great mentor for you in this process!
